Treatment Pathway
Each treatment plan is tailored individually in collaboration with the patient (and, if applicable, parents). Regardless of whether you’ve had surgery, wear a brace, or have mild or severe curves, all patients can engage in our treatment with PSSR (Pattern Specific Scoliosis Rehabilitation. Treatment plans take into account factors such as the patient’s age, stage of progression, and distance from the clinic.
Some patients are familiar with training on their own and can easily integrate scoliosis-specific exercises into their routines. Others may require closer supervision, either through one-on-one sessions or participation in our scoliosis group classes. It is possible to tailor your pathway to your individual needs and possibilities. Our physiotherapy guidance and training follow the Schroth Best Practice approach but also take into account physiotherapeutic knowledge in general.
Possible Treatment Pathways
The treatment plan may include one or more of the following elements:
- Individual training consultations
- Group training sessions
- Intensive treatment courses (2-4 days)
- Specific manual therapy or Shockwave therapy
- Strength training, customized for your spinal condition
If you are interested in participating in group training, you must first undergo an individual screening during your initial consultation. During these group sessions, you’ll work on exercises and adjustments specifically tailored to your scoliosis.
We also offer intensive treatment courses lasting 2-4 days, where the treatment plan is customized based on your specific needs and preferences. These courses are especially beneficial for those living far from the clinic, whether in Denmark or abroad. Typically, these courses include Formetric scanning before and after, along with 90-minute individual sessions that combine examination, guidance, and exercises. Depending on your needs, manual therapy and the creation of a personalized strength training program may also be included. Group training is often part of the intensive course. Please contact our administration team for more details on course structure and pricing.
The “Help-to-Self-Help” Approach at ScolioFys
At ScolioFys, our physiotherapists work with the principle of “help-to-self-help.” This means you’ll learn to manage your scoliosis or Scheuermann condition independently, both in your daily life and during exercise. Historically, Schroth therapy was seen as complex, involving multiple tools and requiring constant physiotherapist supervision. Our Schroth Best Practice approach simplifies these exercises and minimizes the need for equipment, allowing you to train anywhere—at home, in the gym, at work, or during group sessions at the ScolioFys clinic.
Our goal is to empower you to eventually become independent of a therapist, relying on your own knowledge and tools to manage your condition.
Customizing Your Treatment Pathway
Each treatment plan is highly individualized. After your second consultation, you can choose to start group training at the clinic if desired. Please reach out to our administration team to book group sessions.
The course of treatment will then be adjusted based on your overall health, including pain levels, other medical conditions, physical fitness, body awareness, and whether you are already accustomed to exercise. We’ll discuss with you how your specific treatment pathway should be structured to best meet your needs.
